"Recalibration of the gauge"

The report for the peak flow during Tropical Storm Irene on August 29, 2011 was 2610 cubic feet per second (CFS).  A month later, the flow numbers were modified, and the peak flow was restated as 2180 CFS.  It appears as if the flows at heights over 8.5 feet had been overstated in the past.  Since the conversion table has been revised, we have restated the prior high flows using the new conversion table.  We do not know if the government has also restated the old records.
